Here's a conversation I had with a student yesterday, the day before Thanksgiving:
Student: "Mista, what are you gonna do for Thanksgiving?"
Me: "Not much. Eat turkey. Watch football."
Student: "What? Who the hell watches football on Thanksgiving?"
To which I had no appropriate response.

Leave that kid alone. He clearly wants to work on his understanding of the quadratic equation.
You should be encouraging that, not making him watch football. How un-American.
