Old Skool Saturday

I bought two chairs and a table for my 'deck' today. OK, the 'deck' is really a glorified fire escape.

As Rick Mckay and I sat out on my new furniture, a girl from across the way blasted a whole collection of Mary J. Blige's and Biggie Smalls' songs.

One of the songs, took me was back to 1992, when i was just fourteen years old - "Real Love".

What a great song. I think I actually wore the tape out.

It was Ms. Blige's first of many hits and the remix, see below, featured the debut of the one and only Notorious B.I.G. (my cyber-blogging name-sake) who just happens to be the greatest MC of all time in my humble opinion.

Two great performers early in their careers on a great track:

Nice play, LJT. I remember how often you played that song back in the day. I went from hating it, to kinda liking it, to loving it, to hating it only when you played it, to where I am now--it's probably the best of those early-90s r&b songs.

It reminds me of the other dope song on that album:

Oh-oh-oh-oh...Sweet thang
Don't you know, you're my eeeee-verythang
Whoa-oh-oh-oh, Sweet thang

Actually, BIG's debut was Party and Bullshit -- watch for the very young P Diddy and Lil Kim in the first 30 seconds.

Actually, Biggie's earliest recorded rap is this freestyle battle in Brooklyn. Look at how thin he is, too. He's like 17 or something at the time, and he totally annihilates his opponent.

I know it says "Visit W3 Schools!" but click the link anyway. It goes to Biggie doing his thing.
